These are stills from Seeking Sanctuary , my MFA thesis video. In its most straightforward sense, it chronicles the 2019 season of an independent wrestling troupe based in a converted church in a small town in eastern Pennsylvania. In another, it's about the crusade of former professional wrestler, Jon Trosky, to break from the superficiality of WWE and return independent wrestling to its roots in performance art. Most importantly, it is the story of a group of twenty-somethings creating art in a region starved of educational and economic resources. Set deep in Trump country, it illustrates a younger generation free of the bigotry the Trump name has come to stand for.
